A person checks every listing before it posts

Nothing goes up until you approve it, and you can change any word of it. There is no setting that skips the check.

We list our own inventory with it every day, in Mid-Michigan, and we check every one.

Independence Day, Apocalypse Now (front and spine) and Pulp Fiction on VHS, shot together for one lot.
Four tapes, four shots, one lot. This is what lands on the review page for you to look over.

The draft is yours to change

Each listing arrives on one review page. You see every field the draft filled in, and every one of them can be edited.

  • The wordsTitle, condition notes and description.
  • The factsCategory and item details from eBay's lists, with the required ones flagged.
  • The numbersA price suggestion that says where it came from, and a box and weight estimate.

Before a listing can go, it is checked against eBay's rules: the title, the photos, the required details and the condition. We keep those checks current as eBay changes them.

Lots from the bundler land on this same page, so a lot gets the same look as a single item.

What it does when it is unsure

It holds the item and tells you why, in plain words. It does not guess and post. Here is the kind of wording you would see.

Held for you to look at: the part number on the label does not match the box.

Held for you to look at: the condition says new, and one photo shows a cracked case.

Held for you to look at: the price suggestion rests on one sale, and that sale is old.

Example wording for held items. A held item waits for you and goes nowhere.

It will sometimes get an item wrong

That is why the check is not optional. It holds what it is unsure of, and nothing posts without you.

Showing the evidence behind a held item, such as the words it read on the label, is Planned. So is a warning before you list anything eBay might not allow.

Rules for sellers in Michigan

The records a Michigan seller has to keep are kept for you, with a police export and a stolen-item hold that takes the listing down and holds the money when the police ask. Consignor details sit behind a PIN, and 1099 totals are tracked as you go.

The same rule for replies and offers

Messages

One inbox holds your eBay messages and your email. Unshelf suggests a reply, and you press Send. It does not answer a buyer for you. The one kind of message that goes out on its own is an order update (picked, packed, shipped), and each of those can be turned off.

Offers

Offers go out at the discount you choose, never below your floor, your cost or a consignor's minimum. A lot that folds in slow listings asks you first, one lot at a time.

More on how the drafts come out is on the listing quality page, and on what happens to your photos on the your data page.

Show us a listing you would not post

Bring a listing you had to fix by hand and we will talk through how it would be held. We write back within two working days to set a time.

$49 and $99 a month are the prices we expect to charge when Unshelf opens to other sellers, no earlier than mid-2027. Nothing is for sale yet and nobody is charged.
