Where your photos and records go

You photograph your stock and keep records about it, so you should know where all of that goes. Here is what Unshelf does with it today, including any cloud service involved, and what we are still building. Anything not built says Planned.

We list our own inventory with it every day, in Mid-Michigan, so these are rules we live under too.

What happens to your things

A dial for what may leave

We are building a three-position dial. It rests on the first position, where nothing leaves your shop computer. You choose to move it. Planned

Today the control is the single switch for outside help and the cap on what it may spend in a month.

  1. Nothing leavesYour shop computer does the work. This is where the dial rests.
  2. Only when it is unsureAn outside service is asked about the one item it could not settle.
  3. Outside for everythingFor a seller who wants the most help and accepts the trade.

The written terms behind outside help

When outside help is switched on, we plan to use only the paid business tier of each provider, whose written terms are dated below. We will not send your records to a free tier. Planned

Each document is the provider's own, as dated here. Read it yourself before you switch anything on.

We also plan to keep our own promise in writing: we do not train on your records unless you sign a separate opt-in, and we never use rows that came from eBay. Planned

A page that lists what left

Each time something goes to an outside service, one row goes on this page: when, which provider, what was sent with names and numbers removed, and what it cost. The sample below is a mock-up of that page. Planned

Sample rows to show the layout. Not real activity, and the page is not shipped.

Ask us anything about your records

If you have a rule of your own about where photos and records may sit, tell us on a call. We write back within two working days to set a time.

$49 and $99 a month are the prices we expect to charge when Unshelf opens to other sellers, no earlier than mid-2027. Nothing is for sale yet and nobody is charged.
